The Very Reverend John Skinner Wilson (5 January 1849, Fyvie – 11 November 1926, Strathtay〔Venn has 13 November 1926 as his date of death〕) was an eminent Anglican priest in the first quarter of the twentieth century.〔“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕
John Skinner Wilson was born in 1849 and educated at Trinity College, Glenalmond and St Catharine's College, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1873 and was Rector of St George's, Edinburgh 〔”Scottish Episcopal Clergy, 1689-2000” Bertie, D.M: Edinburgh T & T Clark ISBN 0-567-08746-8〕 after which he was appointed Provost of St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh in 1897, a post he held until he died on 11 November 1926.
